NATCHEZ — Natchez Senior Center and Multipurpose Center officials announced Monday that the facility is indefinitely suspending all services at the end of Monday’s business day.
Also Natchez Transit System will begin Wednesday requiring passengers to make advance reservations
“Due to the ongoing threat of the Coronavirus, and for the safety of our senior population, our customers, patrons, passengers, staff, and their families effective at the close of business on today, March 16, the following will take effect:
“1. The Senior Center will temporarily suspend all services that require the gathering of individuals on site at the senior activity center. This decision will be reviewed and or modified on an ongoing basis as the need arises. Other services like home delivery of meals, and senior transportation will continue with modifications,” states a press release issued by Sabrena Bartley, senior center and Natchez Transit Authority executive director. “2. Natchez Transit System will limit its same day call-in services. Beginning on Wednesday, March 18, 2020 passengers will be required to make advance reservations to schedule their transportation trips. This will allow us to make certain that those persons who rely on Natchez Transit for work, employment, non-emergency medical, doctor’s appointments, dialysis, connections to purchase food and other necessities are able to do so.”
