PEARL — Rev. William Dean “Bill” Gassett, 64, went home to Heaven on Thursday, April 16, 2020.
Bill was born September 2, 1955, in Tulsa, OK, a son of the late John Dean Gassett and Mildred Ahrens Gassett, and was a 1973 graduate of Will Rogers High School in Tulsa. He received a B.S. Degree in Zoology from Oklahoma University where he loved playing trumpet in the University All State Band. Later he graduated from Concordia Seminary in St. Louis, MO, with a Master of Divinity Degree.
Bill was an ordained Lutheran (LCMS) pastor for more than 35 years. His life was devoted to the service of others, through his pastoral ministry and later through his career in nursing.
A proud alumni, Bill was an ardent supporter of Oklahoma University football. His favorite hobby was gardening, and he and his beloved wife, Terry, enjoyed relaxing together in the beautiful rose gardens he created. Bill’s favorite times were spent with family, particularly his granddaughters, whom he adored.
Survivors include his wife of 33 years, Terry White Gassett; daughter, Richelle Tilghman (Russell); sons, Joshua Gassett and Nathanael Gassett; sister, Susan Schilling (Chuck); brother, Michael “Mike” Gassett (Janie); granddaughters, Dahlia Tilghman, Riley Gassett, and Sophia Gassett; and his loving nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Due to the current mandated restrictions regarding attendance at gatherings, a memorial service for Rev. Gassett will be held at a later date.
