NATCHEZ — Katherine Thompson Calvin, 86, of Natchez, passed at her residence on April 15, 2020. There will be a walk-through-only viewing on Thursday, April 23, at Marshall Funeral Home Chapel in Natchez from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Internment services will take place on Friday, April 24, 2020, at the Natchez National Cemetery at 10 a.m. under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home Natchez.
Katherine was born in Port Gibson on May 15, 1933, to Eugene and Mariah Thompson.
She was a faithful member of St. Peter Baptist Church serving as mother of the church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Monroe Calvin Sr.; two daughters, Antoinette Irving and Jessie Mae Alexander; one son, Lonnie Lee Calvin; two grandsons, Terrance Goffner, and Major Alexander Jr.; one great granddaughter, Alyssa Newman; four brothers and two sisters; son-in-law Major Alexander, Sr.
She leaves to cherish her memory three daughters: Patricia T. (Eddie) Johnson, Deloris Calvin, and Tracy Calvin all of Natchez; four sons: Monroe (Cheryl) Calvin of Garland, Texas, Terry (Yolanda) Calvin, Donald (Eva) Calvin, and LaVan (Angela) Thompson all of Natchez; 31 grandchildren and a host of great grandchildren; and a host of great-great grandchildren, cousins, nieces, and nephews. Thanks to Hospice Care and a special thanks to her caregiver and sitter, Myra Williams of Vidalia.
