The Concordia Parish Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness on Monday reported the parish’s fifth death of COVID-19.
The parish also reported one new COVID-19 case for bringing the total number of cases in the parish to 58.
The death was of a 34-year-old back female who tested positive at Riverland Medical Center on April 23. She died at a hospital in Rapides Parish.
“This case was reported as a Concordia Parish resident,” said Timothy Vanier, director of OEP Concordia Parish. “However, this patient did not reside in Concordia Parish. This patient was actually a resident of Catahoula Parish. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family and loved ones of this patient.”
Monday’s new COVID-19 case was reported in a 55-year-old black female, who tested at Riverland Medical Center on May 1. She is now on a 14-day quarantine at her residence.
