In the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic we never cease to be amazed by the acts of kindness people exhibit.

We have heard of people making masks for healthcare workers, people parking across the street from hospitals to honk their horns in support of the healthcare workers providing lifesaving services.

We have also heard of people making signs to post in front of healthcare facilities proclaiming the workers to be heroes.

More recently we heard that local business Delta Fuels recently filled the gas tanks of healthcare workers at area hospitals to help them out in this stressful time.

Not all of the acts of kindness and generosity, however, are COVID-19 related.

Last week, after Chad Gamberi’s horse got its hooves caught in a cattle grate, several neighbors pitched in to help rescue the horse.

Such neighborly acts remind us of what is important, but keep in mind, act of kindness do not always have to be grand gestures.

The simple acts of sheltering in place, social distancing and wearing facemasks show your friends and neighbors that you care about their wellbeing.

Neighbors helping and caring about neighbors is what makes a great community and the Miss-Lou has proved that time and time again even in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic.
