Fayette man dies in Adams County of COVID-19 Tuesday; state reports more cases, deaths

FAYETTE — A Fayette man died in Natchez of COVID-19 on Tuesday afternoon, Adams County Coroner James Lee said.
Lee said Claude Carter, 69, was brought to Merit Health Natchez hospital where he succumbed to the disease at 12:45 p.m. Tuesday.
“This disease is still affecting Americans worldwide,” Lee said. “I really feel we must make personal choices as well as follow CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) guidelines until there is a vaccine available. COVID-19 is not gone.”
Also on Tuesday, the Mississippi State Department of Health reported 273 new COVID-19 cases and 17 new COVID-19 deaths.
Adams County now has 189 cases and 15 deaths due to COVID-19, with 40 of Adams County’s COVID-19 cases and eight deaths from long term care facilities.
Statewide 121 long term care facilities have active outbreaks.
The state now has 13,731 confirmed COVID-19 cases and 652 deaths.
