Natchez — Memorial services for Eric S. “Rick” Chamberlain, 80, of Natchez, who died Friday, June 5, 2020, at his residence will be held at a later date. He will be the last Chamberlain family member to be interred at the Chamberlain Family Cemetery. Services will be under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.
Mr. Chamberlain was born February 19, 1940, at Mt. Locus on the Natchez Trace Parkway, the son of Lewis William “Bill” Chamberlain and Helen Anita Smith Chamberlain.
He was employed in the oil business in Houston, Texas for 27 years. He was a member and past president of the Sons of the American Revolution member, past Lt. Commander of the Sons of the Confederate Veterans, and past member of the Lions Club, and a member of the American Legion Jackson Post. He was also a member of Washington Methodist Church. Rick was well loved and respected by all who knew him and met him, he will be truly missed by all. “Live Simply, Love Generously, Care Deeply, Speak Kindly… Leave the rest to God.”
Mr. Chamberlain was preceded in death by his parents Bill and Helen Chamberlain, and numerous aunts and uncles.
Survivors include two brothers, Bill Chamberlain, Jr. of Natchez, MS., Bruce Chamberlain and wife Shirley of Brookhaven, MS; one sister Anita C. Turnage and husband Jim of Utica, MS; nephew Jay Turnage; niece Katie Murphy and husband Kelly; four great nephews and one great niece; and special friend for over 40 years and caregiver Joey Brasseal.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Washington Methodist Church, The Natchez Children’s Home or a charity of one’s choice.
