Monday update: MSDH reports spike in new cases in Adams County; cases up nearly 500 across state

The Mississippi Department of Health reported the largest spike in new COVID-19 cases for Adams County since the state began reporting data on the virus.
MSDH reported 18 new cases of the virus in Adams County. The spike is a 9 percent increase from the 204 cases that were reported Sunday.
Previously, the largest spike in cases reported by the state was on May 1 and April 10, when 15 new cases were reported.
Seven new cases were also reported by the state in Claiborne County and four new cases in Jefferson County.
MSDH reported 498 new cases of COVID-19 in the state and 20 new deaths related to the virus Monday.
Of the 17,768 total number of people who tested positive for COVID-19 cases in the state, MSDH said that approximately 11,203 people (63 percent) have recovered.
