Mississippi releases Tuesday COVID-19 numbers

The Mississippi State Department of Health on Tuesday reported 341 new COVID-19 cases and 10 new COVID-19 deaths, including one death that was identified from a death certificate issued on May 16.

Tuesday’s numbers were not available until late Tuesday night due to a system crash, an MSDH employee said.

As of Tuesday, Adams County has 222 confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 17 deaths due to COVID-19, with 43 of Adams County’s COVID-19 cases and 10 deaths from long term care facilities.

Of Adams County’s total confirmed COVID-19 cases, 25 are active as of Monday, according to the Adams County Emergency Management Agency.

The Adams County Correctional Facility, located off of U.S. 84 is reporting 31 total confirmed COVID-19 cases among detainees with 17 of those still being active and the detainees still under isolation and being monitored.

The state is reporting 106 long-term care facilities with active outbreaks and Adams County has 10 deaths from long-term care facilities. The state, however, has not updated Adams County’s long-term care facility case numbers since June 2, when the state reported 40 cases in and eight deaths in the Adams County Nursing Home.

The only other Adams County long-term care facility to report cases is Glenburney Health Care and Rehabilitation Center, which has four COVID-19 cases in employees, five in patients and no deaths.

As of Monday, Adams County Emergency Agency reported that Adams County had 25 active cases countywide, 197 total expired cases countywide, 17 total deaths countywide and 180 total recovered cases countywide.

The state now has 18,109 confirmed COVID-19 cases and 847 deaths.
