Youth golf champions crowned in Natchez

NATCHEZ — Two champions were crowned in the 2020 Norman Puckett Junior Championships at Duncan Park Golf Course on Sunday.

The youth golfers played 18-holes per day at Duncan Park Golf Course.

Gracie Bloom of Pass Christian won the Girls Overall division and won the Girls A 16-to-18 years old division as well. Bloom finished with a combined score of 148 strokes and finished six strokes over par.

Kayla Starr of Natchez finished third in the Girls Overall division and second in the Girls A 16-to-18 year old division. Between the first and second rounds, Starr totaled a final score of 154 strokes and finished 12 strokes over par.

Sims Dixon of Madison won the Boys Overall division and won the Boys A 16-to-18 year old division. Dixon shot a combined total of 143 strokes and was one stroke over par to finish the championship on Sunday.

Quade Rushing and Jacob Otwell, two Miss-Lou boys golfers, played in the Boys Overall Division. Rushing finished in 20th place out of 28 boys golfers while Otwell finished in 26th place. Rushing finished with a final total of 176 strokes and 34 strokes over par. Meanwhile, Otwell totaled 195 strokes and finished 53 strokes over par.

In total, 50 youth golfers played in the 10th annual Norman Puckett Junior Championships at Duncan Park Golf Course.
