Ward 4 Democratic primary runoff set for Tuesday

NATCHEZ — A runoff election to decide the Democratic Party nomination for Natchez Ward 4 Alderman position will be held Tuesday for voters who live in Ward 4.
In the June 2 primary election, incumbent Democrat Felicia Bridgewater Irving garnered 345 votes, or 47.65% of the vote, and Democratic challenger, Michael Calcote, got 282 votes, or 38.95% of the vote.
The runoff election will be held at Christian Hope Baptist Church on Lasalle Street and will decide which candidate will run against Republican candidate Brenda Floyd in the July 14 general election.
The voting precinct willb e open from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. Tuesday.
Natchez City Clerk Servia Fortenberry said Friday that she had 83 absentee ballots in hand that had been mailed back and 53 absentee ballots that were mailed out and have not been returned.
All absentee ballots must be mailed by 5 p.m. Monday to the address that is pre-printed on the label, P.O. Box 1185 Natchez, 39121, to be counted, Natchez City Clerk Servia Fortenberry said, adding absentee ballots cannot be hand-delivered.
The back of the absentee ballot envelope must be signed with the voter and witness signature.
