NATCHEZ — Adams County officials are searching for a new County Administrator to fill the shoes of Joe Murray, who announced earlier this month he would retire in September.
During a special-called meeting of the Adams County Board of Supervisors on Monday, the board approved advertising for a county administrator with an annual salary between $70,000 and $90,000.
The board agreed to advertise through July 24 — which could be extended if needed — before selecting candidates for the position, officials said.
Murray served as the County Administrator for nearly 10 years and before that worked for the Mississippi State Tax Commission for approximately 20 years, he said.
The County Administrator should have administrative experience and be able to fulfill duties and responsibilities set forth by Mississippi State law, officials said.
Some of those duties include carrying out the responsibilities of the board of supervisors; preparing an inventory of all personal property and a list of all real estate owned by the county; supervise other administrative positions in the county and assist the Board of Supervisors in preparing the budget and tax levy.
No other actions were taken during Monday’s special-called meeting of the Adams County Board of Supervisors.
