VIDALIA — Mariolyn “Mimi” V. Smythe Britt, 81, of Vidalia, LA was born on Thursday, September 22, 1938, in Winnsboro, LA and passed away on Wednesday, July 1, 2020, peacefully at her home. Mariolyn was an avid reader, excellent seamstress, and a wonderful gardener. She was a loving Mimi to her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents- Stanley E. Symthe and Doris Tuberville Smythe; husband- R.S. Britt; son- Charles Kurtz Merritt; sister- Elot Cauthen; and step-son- Ty Britt.
Those left behind to cherish her memories: son- Stanley N. “Bucky” Merritt of Natchez, MS; daughter – Alicia Yielding & her husband Tim of Monterey, LA; grandson- Walt Ketchings & his wife Sarah of Baton Rouge, LA; granddaughter- Suzannah Ketchings of Ferriday, LA; granddaughter- Rachel Jones & her husband Hunter of Wilmington, NC; grandson- Kurtz Merritt of Oxford, MS; great-grandson- Hogue Ketchings of Baton Rouge, LA; step-granddaughter-in-law- Susan Britt of Gilbert, LA; step-granddaughter- Walty Sample & her husband Ken of Houston, TX; granddaughter- Courtney Zachman & her husband Matt of Houston, TX; grandson- Ben Sample of Houston, TX; and great-grandson- Connor Zachman of Houston, TX.
The family would like to send a special thanks to Ira Baker and Sandra Bailey for the love and support they shared for Mrs. Mariolyn and her family, and to Encompass Health Hospice of Vidalia.
