NATCHEZ — A Natchez woman faces charges after police said she shot her live-in boyfriend on Friday night.
Nikki Swerengen, 42, faces charges of aggravated assault/domestic violence and discharging a firearm in city limits, said Walter Armstrong, Natchez chief of police. Nikki was arrested for shooting her live in boyfriend at 63 Minor St. Natchez.
“Swerengen and her boyfriend were having a verbal/physical altercation before it escalated to her shooting him one time with a 9mm pistol,” Armstrong said, adding the incident occurred at approximately 10 Friday. “The victim drove himself to the local hospital where he was treated and released.”
The weapon used in the shooting was recovered and the investigation is ongoing, Armstrong said.
