VIDALIA, La. — Detectives of Concordia and Grant parishes arrested a sex offender two weeks after his release from prison for soliciting minors online for sexual purposes.
The CPSO Cyber Crime Unit began a joint investigation with the Grant Parish Sheriff’s Office regarding an adult subject identified as Michael Keenan Shelton, 33, communicating with what he believed to be a child online.
Shelton was previously convicted in LaSalle Parish in 2017 for indecent behavior with juveniles.
He allegedly engaged in lewd conversation while acknowledging that he “could be in trouble for such,” CPSO authorities stated in a press release.
After positively identifying Shelton, detectives confirmed that he was a convicted Tier-1 sex offender who had been released from prison just 14 days prior on Oct. 6. Detectives from both agencies executed a search warrant Friday afternoon at his residence, at which time he was taken into custody without incident.
Shelton, who resides at 164 Buck Nugent Road in Pollock, is charged with indecent behavior with juveniles and is on a probation and parole hold.
All persons arrested are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
