NATCHEZ — A 20-year-old man is dead after being shot in what Natchez Police say may have been a case of mistaken identity.

Natchez Police Commander Jerry Ford said Terry Lewis, 20, was shot to death when he exited a vehicle at the home of a friend on Ridgewood Road at about 11:30 p.m. Tuesday night.

Ford said the suspect in the shooting, Adrian Brown, who was also visiting the friend’s home, is in custody and will be charged with manslaughter. Ford said he was not certain this morning of Brown’s age, but thinks he is between 18 and 20 years old.

“Three guys were sitting in a car outside the home doing something, according to Mr. Brown. He said they saw a car pull up behind them and was not sure who it was at the time. They got a little scared when the guy got out with a hood over his head. They thought it was someone who was coming to shoot or kill them. They panicked and Mr. Brown shot him,” Ford said.
