A tornado watch has been issued for Adams County now through 12 a.m.

In a CodeRed message, Natchez-Adams County Liaison Officer Neifa Hardy said the Safe Room at 323 Liberty Road is open to anyone who needs shelter.

”We are expecting strong winds, possible down trees, and down powerlines,” Hardy said.

“The Adams County Safe Room is currently open for residents who are in need shelter. Please bring food, drinks, medication, a blanket, and any essential items. Small pets are welcome, but they must be in a kennel.

“Please take this time to have a family plan to review your severe weather preparedness checklist. Also stay weather aware by listening to your local radio, television stations and the Adams County Emergency Management Facebook page for immediate updates. Thank you and as always stay safe.”
