NATCHEZ — A man on the run with outstanding warrants from the Mississippi Department of Corrections attempted to evade a Mississippi Highway Patrol checkpoint and led MHP officers on a high-speed pursuit in Adams County Saturday evening.

Richard Norman

MHP officer Craig James said Richard Norman, 51, was driving a Cadillac DTS that tried to evade a safety checkpoint near Powlett Road. He led officers on a pursuit that continued even after the vehicle left the roadway several times and rammed into a MHP unit, James said.

Norman was eventually taken into custody when his vehicle wrecked and became “stuck” at the Kenny Graves Apartments.
