VIDALIA – Funeral services for Marilyn Bucker, 84, of Vidalia, who departed this earthly life on Friday, Dec. 29, 2023, in Ferriday will be held Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2024, at 11:30 a.m. at St. Stephen Baptist Church with Pastor Danny Lewis officiating.

Burial will follow in Natchez National Cemetery under the direction of West Gate Funeral Home.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2024, from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the service at the church.

Marilyn was born May 11, 1939, in Glasscock, the daughter of Mary Dailey and Mike Burdin. She was a high school graduate and retired cook. Mrs. Buckner was a member of New St. James Baptist Church where she served as a choir member. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star Rosewood #65. Marilyn enjoyed cooking and caring for her cats.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Carter Buckner; parents; brothers, Frank Dailey and Ernest King; sisters, Lillian Dailey, Hattie Brown, Pearl Randall, and Alberta Davis; nieces, Lee Brown, Katherine King, Gloria, Ora D. Payne, and Martha Burton.

Marilyn leaves to cherish her memories: nieces, Ollie Jones and Selida Randall; nephews, Clarence Randall III, Roger Davis, Jr., and Kale Davis, Sr.; great nieces, Sandra Burton, Nichelle Whitley, Shameka Tucker, Shernicka Robinson, Sherlida Randall, Doretha Singleton, Sonji Smith, Marilyn Taylor, Hattie Skipper, Latasha Randall and Kelsey Davis; great-nephews, Kale J. Davis, Kabari Davis, John Randall, Jr., Clifford Payne, Marvin Payne, Kevin Sims, Darnell Pharr, and Roderick Randall; special friend, Alberta Brown, other relatives and friends.
