NATCHEZ – Edith Rose Golmon, 94, lately of Heber Springs, AR, passed away on Jan. 4, 2024. She was born in Natchez, MS to Samuel Bentley Burns and Edith Elizabeth Burns on April 4, 1929, Edith Rose lived in Natchez, MS most of her lifetime before moving to Arkansas in 2010.

Edith Rose graduated in June 1947 from Carr Central High School in Vicksburg and was married to Jerry E. Golmon on Nov. 11, 1951. She and Jerry had two daughters, Jo Ann, and Jerilyn, and were active members of First Presbyterian Church in Natchez.

She spent over 30 years working at Britton & Koontz Bank and considered many of her customers as friends. Whether at work, church, or social outings, she was always fashionably dressed and never went out without her “lipstick”.  She loved music and dancing, especially to the Glenn Miller Band and other big bands. Holidays and birthdays for Edith Rose were a cause for celebrating and gathering with family and friends. She especially loved Christmas and buying presents for everyone. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed making cakes for family and friends for birthdays and special occasions. Everyone loved receiving one of her special cakes! She had a green thumb and took a lot of pride in her plants and yard.  Her pets were also an important part of her life and brought her so much joy.

Edith Rose will be remembered for her kindness and thoughtfulness to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her.

Edith Rose was predeceased by her loving husband, Jerry E. Golmon, and by her parents.

She is survived by her daughters, Jo Ann G. Dossett and husband, Bill Dossett of Natchez, MS, and Jerilyn G. Young and husband, Robert Young of Pangburn, AR; brother, Sam Burns, and wife, Jean of Terry, MS; sister-in-law, Mona Cathey of Arlington, TX; step-grandchildren, Matt Dossett of Ashburn, VA, and Sarah Kathryn Dossett-Bridgers and her husband, Trey Bridgers of Oxford, MS; step-great-grandchildren, Tucker Bridgers, Elsie James Bridgers and Jack Bridgers of Oxford, MS, and Emerson Dossett and Katherine Dossett of Ashburn, VA; nephew, Jeff Burns; nieces, Paige Miller and Rhonda Green and their children; goddaughter, Laura Blaylock of Jackson, MS; and many wonderful cousins.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2024, at First Presbyterian Church in Natchez, with Rev. Dr. Joan Gandy officiating.

Visitation will be held preceding the service from 9:30 until 11:00 a.m. in Stratton Chapel at First Presbyterian Church.

Burial will follow the funeral service at Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Natchez, under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Robert Young, Bill Dossett, Jeff Burns, Vic Blaylock, John Holyoak, and Carl Bryant.
