NATCHEZ — A fire completely destroyed the home at 92 Pinemount Road at approximately 8 a.m. Sunday.

Adams County Fire Coordinator Darryl W. Smith said one resident of the home suffered from smoke inhalation, but made it out of the fire without further injury.

“He is OK. The Red Cross is working to try to help him now,” Smith said.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation, he said.

Smith reminded residents as dangerous cold weather is approaching to take great care when lighting heaters or using space heaters in their homes.

Adams County is part of a winter storm watch issued by the National Weather Service in Jackson for all day on Monday.

“We still have a few smoke alarms left for those who need them,” Smith said. “We want to make sure residents are protected. Just give us a call at 601-442-7021, which is the Adams County Fire Service office, or 601-442-3684 for the City of Natchez Fire Department. They will be available on a first come, first served basis.”

Adams County Sheriff’s deputies also responded to the fire.
