NATCHEZ — The Hiram Revels ceremony, set for 2 p.m. today at the MLK Triangle, has been postponed because of weather concerns.
Natchez Mayor Dan Gibson said because of icing on roads and bridges, the ceremony will be moved to another day.
“The safety of our city is first and foremost. Another date will be announced soon,” Gibson said.
During the ceremony, Zion Chapel Church leaders, which owns the Triangle area, is conveying its ownership to the City of Natchez in order for the Hiram Revels Plaza, which will be a park setting, to be developed.
