ACCS sweeps Centreville Academy

CENTREVILLE — Landon McGuire finished with a game-high 25 points and Lance White added 16 points to lead four Adams County Christian School players in double figures as the Rebels cruised to an 83-43 win over the Centreville Academy Tigers last Thursday night.

Charles Brooks and Tyson Young poured in 14 points apiece for ACCS, which has won two straight games after a tough loss at Copiah Academy on Friday, Jan. 26 that dropped the Rebels to second place in MAIS District 4-5A.

The Rebels improved to 18-3 overall and will played to Amite School Center for Senior Night at 7:30 p.m. Friday night.

Head coach Matthew Freeman said the ACCS Rebels will also be the No. 2 seed out of District 4-5A for next week’s Class 5A South State Tournament, which will take place at Oak Forest Academy in Amite, La.

ACCS girls 52, Centreville Academy 51 (Thurs. night)

CENTREVILLE — Makenzie Campbell led Adams County Christian School’s varsity girls’ basketball team with 23 points and Carley Beach chipped in with 10 points as the Lady Rebels held on for a 52-51 win over the Centreville Academy Lady Tigers last Thursday night.

It was the second win in a row for the ACCS Lady Rebels, who also defeated Providence Classical Academy last Tuesday night to finish 3-5 in district play.

The Lady Rebels improved to 7-14 overall and hosted Amite School Center at 6 p.m. Friday for Senior Night. 

Freeman, who coaches both of ACCS’s varsity basketball teams, said that the Lady Rebels will be the No. 4 seed from District 4-5A for next week’s Class 5A South State Tournament at Oak Forest Academy.
