VIDALIA, La. — A Vidalia man has been arrested for a murder that occurred last week in Kelly.

Richie Alan Norris, 34, was arrested Friday on a warrant for second-degree murder during a traffic stop by Caldwell Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies and Louisiana Probation and Parole in Caldwell Parish at Hwy 4 and Hwy 846, a news release states.

According to the release, deputies received a call on Sunday, Feb. 11, that a man needed medical attention at Madison Lane in Kelly. Upon arrival, it was determined that the man was deceased from a gunshot wound and a homicide investigation began. The victim was 29-year-old Devin Cole Hines from Olla.

Norris was arrested Friday without incident.

Sheriff Clay Bennett thanked Caldwell detectives and deputies for their long hours of hard work in leading to this arrest for a horrible crime.

“Our prayers are with this family as they grieve their loss,” he said.
