MONROE, LA – Graveside services for Mary Virginia “Ginna” Parker Dennett, 89, of Natchez, MS who died Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2024, in Natchez will be 11 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 23, 2024, at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery in Monroe, LA.

Burial will follow under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.

Mary Virginia was born on Dec. 19, 1934, in Monroe, LA. Mary Virginia graduated in 1953 from Ouachita Parish High School where she was a wonderful leader in many High School organizations, she played tennis, played the piano, and had a love of classical music.  She received her Bachelor of Science/Elementary Education from Louisiana State University in 1957 where she was also a member of Chi Omega Sorority.  She continued her education and received a Masters+30 from the University of Louisiana Monroe (formerly Northeast Louisiana University) in Monroe, LA. Mary Virginia taught Special Education for many years and had a dear love for her students. She was a member of First Methodist Church in Monroe where she taught Sunday School and Ladies Circle through the years. Mary Virginia had a deep love of animals and supported many animal causes. She had many beloved pets through the years.

Mary Virginia was preceded in death by her parents Aaron F. Parker and Virginia P. Parker, and loving husband of 46 years, Daniel (Dan) Dennett, Jr.

Survivors include her daughter, Ginna Dennett Holyoak of Natchez, MS (John); her son, Dr. James (Jim) A. Dennett (Suellen) of Rockport, TX; grandchildren, Mae Ellen Holyoak of Natchez, MS, Wes Holyoak of Plaza, North Dakota, Danielle Dennett of Rockport, Texas and James Ethan Dennett of Rockport, Texas.

Mary Virginia’s family greatly appreciates the love and care she received from Magnolia House where she was one of their longest residents. Many will miss her beautiful smile and sense of humor.

Pallbearers will be John Holyoak, Richard Hartley, Jeremy White, and John Clary.
