NATCHEZ — Adams County residents may notice a large presence of emergency responders at locations in the county on Thursday morning, including the Adams County Airport.

“This is only a drill,” said Neifa Hardy, the liaison officer with Adams County Emergency Management.

Tomorrow, Thursday, Feb. 29, Adams County will be participating in a full-scale graded exercise to test the response and collaboration of multiple agencies, including communicating those activities with the media and public.

The countywide exercise begins with an emergency operations center briefing at 8:30 a.m. and lasts until noon at locations in the county, including the airport.

Those participating, including dispatchers and first responders, do not know beforehand what the scenario will be to simulate a real emergency. All that has been disclosed at this time is that this is an airport drill so that the public can be informed that a drill is taking place and won’t be alarmed.
