“Laughter is the shortest distance between two people.” So says Victor Borge, one of my favorites among pianists and comedians. Who says you can’t mix legendary music with humor?!

Natchez Festival of Music is planning to do exactly that at our annual spring concert to be held Friday, March 1, at the Carriage House Restaurant.

“Humor is something that thrives between man’s aspirations and his limitations. There is more logic in humor than in anything else. Because, you see, humor is truth.” — Victor Borge.

Natchez Festival of Music’s offering to you this year is an enchanting evening with David Maiocco, who will be spreading music and laughter. Some of you may remember Maiocco when he appeared in Natchez some time ago as “Liberace.” What a show it was!

This presentation promises the same talent, energy, and downright entertainment as he presents a program of comedy and virtuoso piano playing, celebrating the world’s greatest piano men. From Beethoven to Borge and from Liszt to Liberace, this one-man show is a roller coaster ride through the musical genius of history’s most beloved composers.

“The first piano was built long after they didn’t have any at all.” — V.B.

This is not your ordinary piano recital. Classical works meet hilarious behind-the-scenes stories of the composers who created them to bring you a roller coaster ride through the musical genius of history’s most beloved composers.

“What soap is to the body, laughter is to the soul.” — V.B. The evening will consist not only of great entertainment, but we will also have a silent auction and a live auction of art pieces and vacation packages, heavy hors d’oeuvres crafted by Continental Chef Bryant McLaurin Canon, and a cash bar.

The doors will open at 6 p.m. for cocktails and bidding on the silent auction, and the concert will begin at 7 p.m. At intermission we will continue with the silent auction and add the live auction.

“Humor is something that thrives between man’s aspirations and his limitations. There is more logic in humor than in anything else. Because, you see, humor is truth.” — V.B. Please join us on Friday for an unforgettable evening. For tickets and information, visit natchezfestivalofmusic.com.
