NATCHEZ — At least three businesses along John R. Junkin Drive in Natchez were forcefully broken into overnight into the early morning hours on Wednesday.

Natchez Police Department Commander Jerry Ford said Dairy Queen and the nearby Farm Bureau and Affordable Home Furnishings all had signs of a forced entry Wednesday.

“The businesses still need to inventory their stock to know what could be missing,” Ford said, adding broken glass and doors and damage inside the businesses themselves will likely amount to three felonies, one for each business. Damages and theft greater than $1,000 in value is a felony.

“At Dairy Queen, they broke out a glass and entered the business and pretty much ransacked the place,” Ford said. “At Farm Bureau, they forcibly entered through the back door. Affordable Home Furnishings, they broke a window and cut the power off to the business and also went into a truck and stole some tools.”

Ford said he believes the break-ins happened around 1:30 a.m.

“We have a team of investigators out and we’re gathering any information we can. This is an ongoing investigation.”

Ford said anyone with additional information about these break-ins, or if they’ve had a break-in themselves, should call the Natchez Police Department or 911.

Tips may also be submitted anonymously through Miss-Lou Crime Stoppers and be eligible for a cash reward if it leads to an arrest, Ford said.
