NATCHEZ — The Natchez Mayor and Board of Aldermen meet Tuesday for updates on a number of items, including the inaugural year of Natchez Youth Sports Baseball program and requests for proposals for solid waste collection, recycling and disposal services.

The board meets at 11 a.m. at 115 S. Pearl St. in the Council Chamber, across from City Hall.

Arrow Disposal Services holds the city’s current contract for collection, recycling and disposal. That six-year contract expires May 31.

Jimmie Moore, vice president of Arrow Disposal, spoke to aldermen at a meeting in January and told them they will via for the city’s contract again. At present, city residents pay $24.15 per month per household for those services.

The board’s agenda for Tuesday also includes:

• A presentation by William Fredrick Marsalis about an MDP Reach Health, Wellness and Unity event scheduled in Natchez for April 6 and 7.

• A presentation by Greg West about the Boys & Girls Club of Southwest Mississippi.

• A discussion with Darryl Smith of Adams County Emergency Management about sign hazard mitigation.

• A request by Jody Rutter, city inspector, to replace a member of the city’s board of examiners, who is resigning.

• A request by the city’s Public Works Director Justin Dollar to advertise for bids for EWP projects on Bob L. Williams and Gordon Lane.

• A request from Ryan Porter, the city’s parks and recreation director, to apply for a Recreational Trails Program grant from the U.S. Department of Transportations Federal Highway Administration, which would require a 20 percent match from the city.

In the mayor’s report, Mayor Dan M. Gibson is expected to ask aldermen to approve a final contract with the Natchez-Adams County Humane Society for renovation and operation of a facility on its property; approve a grant consulting services contract with Debbie Hudson Germany; approve a proposal for property valuation by CBIZ Valuation Group LLC as recommended by Byrne Insurance Agency, the city’s insurance provider.
