Early morning crash claims life of Jonesville man

CONCORDIA PARISH, La. – A Jonesville man was killed in a single-vehicle crash early Thursday in Concordia Parish.
Louisiana State Police Troop E officers responded to the crash at Highway 84 and Pete Davis Road at approximately 12:45 a.m.
The initial investigation revealed that a 1999 Jeep Cherokee, driven by Robert Hood, 76, was traveling east on U.S. Highway 84. For reasons still under investigation, Hood’s vehicle left the roadway, traveled down the ditch embankment and struck a tree, according to LSP.
Hood, who was not restrained, sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Hood’s juvenile passenger, restraint usage unknown, sustained moderate injuries and was transported to a local hospital. Routine toxicology samples were obtained and submitted for analysis. This crash remains under investigation.
In 2024, Troop E has investigated 13 fatal crashes, resulting in 15 deaths.
