Vidalia chooses incumbent Police Chief, Aldermen for re-election

VIDALIA, La. — With a voter turnout of approximately 43.7 percent, the Town of Vidalia has re-elected Joey Merrill for Police Chief and incumbents as aldermen during Saturday’s presidential and municipal primary.

Merrill received 63 percent or 848 of the total votes. Challenger Frank Duson received 37 percent or 490 of the total votes.

For District 1 Alderman, Vidalia chose former Alderman Triand “Tron” McCoy, who received 57 percent or 182 of the total votes. Christine Washington came second with 17 percent or 55 of the total votes.

In District 2, Robert Lee Gardner Jr. is re-elected with 56 percent or 154 of the total votes. His challenger Cassandra Lynch received 44 percent or 123 of the total votes in a close race.

In District 4, Tommy Probst is re-elected with 64 percent or 152 of the total votes. Deborah “Debbie” Brocato garnered 36 percent or 85 of the total votes.
