When deputies arrived, Bequette was sitting in the driver’s seat of a vehicle that was in the middle of the roadway, Patten said. As deputies began to investigate, they found the victim had sustained injuries after being struck by the car Bequette was driving. An ambulance was called and the victim was transported to Merit Health Natchez, where he remains at the time of this writing.

Bequette was taken into custody and transported to the Adams County Jail where she was asked to take a breath test to determine her alcohol content. Bequette refused. She was booked into the Adams County Jail and charged with DUI Refusal and Aggravated Assault.

Justice Court Judge Danny Barber set Bequette’s bond at $501,000.
