ACSO Investigator: Be ‘on alert’ for copper thieves cutting internet, phone wires

NATCHEZ — Adams County Sheriff’s Office Investigator Ruston Cavin and Sheriff Travis Patten ask the community to be “on alert” for any suspicious digging activity that could be people stealing copper wire from telephone and internet lines.

Cavin said that several feet of AT&T internet and telephone wire had recently been dug up and cut on U.S. 61 North, interrupting service to numerous residences.

The incident remains under investigation.

Anyone who sees any suspicious digging should call 911, he said.
