FERRIDAY – Funeral services for Doris Diane Harris Carter, 73, of Ferriday, LA will be held Saturday, May 4, 2024, at 11 a.m. from New Morning Star Baptist Church in Ferriday under the directions of Concordia Funeral Home of Ferriday. Burial will follow at the Zion Baptist Church in Ferriday. Pastor Danny Lewis will officiate.
Mrs. Carter, daughter of Hymes and Mary Johnson Harris, was born in Natchez, MS, and died at Rapides Regional Medical Center in Alexandria, LA. She was a retired janitor for Concordia Parish School System.
She is survived by three children, whom she raised as her own, Jerome Harris and his wife, Yolanda of Meridian, MS; Charles Harris of Ferriday and Monica Harris of Vidalia; two brothers, Hymes Harris, Jr, and his wife, Brenda of Ferriday; Cedric Grinnell and his wife, Kenda of Leesville, LA.
Preceding Mrs. Carter in death are her parents; three brothers, Robert Williams, Fred Harris and Johnell Williams, and two sisters, Laura Bowman and Lula Mae Carter.
