NATCHEZ – Marilyn Jean Matthews Grantham, 77, was born Monday, Jan. 13, 1947, in Natchez, MS to the union of Melvin M. Matthews and Lottie Davis Matthews and departed this life on Sunday, May 12, 2024.

Services for Mrs. Grantham will be at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 18, 2024, at Laird Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Russell Wagoner officiating.

Interment will follow at Natchez City Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until service time on Saturday, May 18, 2024, at Laird Funeral Home Chapel.

Mrs. Grantham is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Garland W. Grantham; maternal grandparents, Cordis C. Davis and Emma Beach Davis; paternal grandparents, William L. Matthews and Frances E. Davis Matthews; and two infant sisters, Frances Matthews and Barbara Matthews.

She was a member of Cranfield Baptist Church.

Mrs. Grantham is survived by three sons, Richard Grantham, Rodney Grantham and his wife, Tina, and Melvin Grantham all from Natchez, MS; two daughters, Jeanette Day and her husband, Robert, from Natchez, MS and Marie Holloway and her husband, Gerald, from Newport, TN; seven grandsons, Alan Grantham, E.J. Grantham, Aaron Day, Corvan Day and his wife, Erin, Jarrett Day, Jay Corley and his wife, Destinee and Ben Corley; four granddaughters, Meagan Grantham, Ashley Scott and her husband, Matthew, Taylor Grantham, and Kimberly Grantham; and she was GramGram to six great-grandchildren, Brantley Grantham, Patrick Grantham, Mason Grantham, Brooklyn Moore, Eli Day, Casen Day, and Kevin Garland Corley.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons.
