Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

April 30, 1941 – May 12, 2024

NATCHEZ – Susie May Harrigill went home to Jesus on May 12, 2024, at age 83.

Susie was born to Thomas Jefferson Sanders and Susie May Davis Sanders on April 30, 1941, in Natchez, MS.

Susie met her husband Claude, while he was fishing at a family pond in Franklin County, MS. Susie was the best catch of his life. They married on Feb. 14, 1963, and went on to have three beautiful children, Stephanie McCall, Claudine Neel, and Bobbie Ann Upton.

In addition to being a dedicated Christian wife and loving mother, Susie also enjoyed the little things in life. She spent countless hours feeding and watching birds in her rocking chair, drinking coffee, cooking biscuits for her family and friends, winning countless games of Wahoo and Rook, singing, dancing, and reading her Bible. Throughout her entire life, she held an unwavering faith in God, which she shared with those who surrounded her. Just being in her presence was pure joy.

Susie joins her parents, Thomas Jefferson and Susie May Davis Sanders; her brothers, Bobbie Sanders, Thomas Jefferson Sanders, Eugene Sanders, and Joe Sanders; and her sisters, Bonnie Moffett, and Hilda Burns.

Susie is survived by her husband, Claude Harrigill; her sister, Rita Ann Beasley, and husband, Benny; her daughters, Stephanie McCall and husband, Bruce, Claudine Neel and Lane Freeman, and Bobbie Ann Upton and husband, Mike; her grandchildren, Britton and Mindy McCall, Hollie and Blake Neel and wife, Logan, Dalton and Tyler Upton; her soon to be great-grandchild, Sherry Renea Neel; an abundance of nieces, nephews, close family and friends; her best friend, Pat Mullins, and her devoted caregivers, doctors, and nurses.

Those honoring her as pallbearers will be Britton McCall, Blake Neel, Dalton Upton, Tyler Upton, her

son-in-law, Mike Upton, and Justin Williams.

Those honoring her as honorary pallbearers will be Richard Rhodes and Wayne Felter.

Her celebration of life will be held at her home church Highland Baptist on Wednesday, May 15, 2024. Visitation will be held from 9:30 until 11 a.m. Service will follow immediately at 11 a.m. Graveside will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.

May her child-like spirit live on through all of us.

“The beauty of life is in each precious moment. Don’t hurry, don’t worry, we’re only here for a short visit. So, stop, take the time to love your family, smell the roses, and don’t forget to love like Jesus,” Love Susie.
