It looked like a weekend of boating and fishing on the lake was not starting as planned for one boat owner.

On Saturday, photos of a boat stranded on the side of a Mississippi highway in Natchez received probably as many comments and shares on social media as quizzical looks from passersby.

Jody Smith, from Natchez, posted a photo of the boat sitting on the side of John R. Junkin Drive near a local gas station.

“This can’t be good,” Smith wrote in his post, which quickly elicited comments from friends and followers.

A truck pulling an empty trailer sits a few yards away from the boat in Smith’s photograph. Pointed west on the side of the road, the scene appears as if the unlucky owner may have been headed for a Saturday of fishing on one of the nearby Louisiana lakes.

“Well, 911 don’t get a call like that every day,” one commenter posted.

“Hate it when that happens!” one person responded.

Most of the comments focused on a beautiful weekend suddenly gone awry.

“I saw it too. Talk about ruining your lake day plans,” one person wrote.

“I bet they remembered the plug, though,” another follower posted in the string of comments.

Others recommended that Smith could take advantage of the situation.

“Looks like God just handed you a boat! Finders keepers!” one person wrote.
