VIDALIA, La. — Vidalia Police Chief Joey Merrill announced Friday that his department has joined the Louisiana Highway Safety Commission’s statewide fatal injury and crash reduction effort.
A special grant from the agency to Vidalia Police Department allows the launch of a new “click it or ticket” safety campaign.
“Our main objective is not to write tickets but to reduce fatal and injury crashes on highways and keep you safe,” the department said in a news release. “Beginning May 20 to June 2, 2024, the Vidalia Police Department will be out in full force, checking seat belts, speeding, signal lights, and stop signs to make sure you are safe. Could you ensure you click it, or will you get a ticket?”
