FERRIDAY – Funeral services for Ernestine Allen, 94. of Ferriday, LA will be held Saturday, May 25, 2024, at 11 a.m. from the Mt. Beulah Christian Church in Ferriday under the directions of Concordia Funeral Home of Ferriday. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. Elder James Devine will officiate. Visiting hours are Friday evening from 4 until 6 p.m. at the funeral home and again Saturday morning from 10 a.m. until the service time at the church.
Mrs. Allen, daughter of Columbus and Julia Watkins Allen, was born in Frogmore, LA, and died at the Camelot Leisure Living Home in Ferriday. She was a retired nurse’s assistant and a faithful member of the Mt. Beulah Church where she served on the Mother’s Board.
She leaves to cherish her memories: six children, she raised as her very own, Keith Henderson of Jonesville, LA, Charles Allen (Danielle) and Kendra Griffin all of Wildsville, LA, Michael Griffin (Jaleisha) of Hawkins, TX, LaKeith Lewis (Ariana) of Baton Rouge, LA, and Tosha Harris of Memphis, TN; a host of nieces including, Vera Lee Walker of Wildsville, Charlene Allen of Brandon, MS, and Michele A. Duncan (Anderson) of Jonesville; a host nephews including a special nephew, Wilbert Miller of Pontiac, MI; three grandchildren, Charleston Allen of Wildsville; Rodney and Reagen Harris of Memphis, TN; her special friend, Cora Savage (Roosevelt) of Jonesville, and lastly, her beloved canine companion, Virginia “Ginger”.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, and six sisters.
