NATCHEZ — The second-annual White Linen Art Walk, a free art event that supports artists and draws traffic outside of downtown businesses, is this Saturday, June 1.

“It’s not a fundraiser. It’s a fun-raiser,” said co-founder Mamie Henry, who with author and artist Jax Frey launched the first event in 2023.

Henry, owner of The Shops at Kress, said it began “response to a growing community desire for cultural events in this growing, dynamic city.”

If weather allows, the White Linen Art Walk will feature local art, live music by Mississippi Avenue, food, wine and other beverages and a street full of people dressed in white.

The block of 100 N. Commerce St. in the Arts District of downtown Natchez will be cordoned-off from 6 p.m. to 8 pm.

Maps showing the participating galleries, stores, and restaurants will be available at the information booth on Commerce Street during the event. Participating businesses will also display welcoming white balloons.

White Linen Night posters with art by Jax Frey will be for sale at the information booth and at The Shops at Kress.

“Natchez loves art, and we’re so proud to welcome everyone to this free cultural event,” Frey said. “Last year’s inaugural affair was a huge, fun success, and Natchez residents are excited for a repeat performance. We believe this year’s occasion will be even bigger and better. Tell everyone you know to deck out in white and join us.”

Henry added, “An event like White Linen Night attracts all sorts of people and, because everyone wears white, it adds to the camaraderie and collective spirit of the moment. There’s an excitement growing over the event, and I can’t wait to see all our neighbors, friends, and visitors come out and have a wonderful night together.”

Participating galleries, stores, and restaurants are A Gallerie, Arts District Studio, Arts Natchez, Consignment & More at Jacobs, Darby’s, Frankie’s on Main, Kaelor & Co., Natchez Consign and Design, Rise and Shine, The Big Muddy Inn, The Painted Petal, and The Shops at Kress.

The event is sponsored by Home Bank, Murray Printing, Frankie’s on Main, Nest, The Natchez Coffee Shop, The Shops at Kress, and Jax Frey Art.
