NATCHEZ — City of Natchez voters are asked to go to the polls today in the municipal general election. However, only one alderman — Ben Davis of Ward 5 — has an opponent. Tarsha Ambeau, an independent, is on the ballot running against Davis today.
Davis withstood a challenge from Jamar White in the primary election in April.
Ward 6 Alderman Curtis Moroney is on the general election ballot as an independent, though he faces no opponent.
“We are expecting a very low voter turnout,” said Natchez City Clerk Megan McKenzie. “We only received 11 absentee ballots.”
All six city precincts — one for each ward — are open for voting today. Polls close at 7 p.m.
Voting places include:
Ward 1 — The Council Chambers at 115 S. Pearl St.
Ward 2 — Frazier School
Ward 3 — Cornerstone Church, located in the old Trinity School on U.S. 61 South.
Ward 4 — Christian Hope Missionary Baptist Church on Gayosa.
Ward 5 — The Adams County Safe Room off of Liberty Road.
Ward 6 — The VFW building, which is located in the old Canteen building in Duncan Park.
