NATCHEZ – A celebration of life service for Prophetess Dr. Barbara Ann Johnson Minor will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 15, 2024, at St. Mary Baptist Church under the direction of Webb Winfield Funeral Home with Dr. James M. Miller presiding and Bishop Larry Minor officiating. The burial will immediately follow the service in Sunset View Memorial Park Cemetery.

Prophetess Dr. Barbara Ann Johnson Minor was born Oct. 17, 1958, to the late James B. Johnson and Rosie Lee Fort-Johnson.

She was baptized at an early age and was a member of the Pleasant Green Baptist Church in Natchez, MS. She was ordained on July 9, 1978, at St. Raymond Divine Spiritual Church of Christ.

Prophetess Minor graduated from North Natchez High School (Rams) Class of 1976. She furthered her education at Jackson State University, where she received a Bachelor of Science in Education and a Master’s and Doctoral from Jacksonville Baptist Theological Seminary.

She was devoted in marriage to the love of her life, Bishop Larry William Minor for forty years.

Prophetess Minor was a former speech pathology educator in Natchez Adams School District and Duval County Public Schools in Jacksonville, FL.

In the year of our Lord 2003, she and her husband founded the Word Vine Christian Fellowship Church Inc. where she faithfully served unto death. Within the church, she founded the Empowered Christian Women Ministry.

Prophetess Minor gladly served as former First Lady of St. Mary Baptist Church and St. Peter Baptist Church in Natchez, MS, and St. Stephen Baptist Church in Vidalia, LA. Her duties as a First Lady continued in Jacksonville, FL at Greater Friendly Missionary Baptist Church and Word Vine Christian Fellowship Church.

On May 25, 2024, at 1:58 p.m., Prophetess Minor transitioned from her earthly home to eternity in Jacksonville, FL.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Rosie L. Johnson; siblings, James Johnson Jr., Jesse Lee Johnson, a twin to Willie R. Stampley, and Susie Marie Williams; niece, Kimberly A. Hendricks and nephew, Keith Carter.

Prophetess Minor leaves to cherish her memories: her husband; one son, Joshua Immanuel Minor (Kyoka) and little girl Miran of Shinjuku City, Tokyo Japan, and daughters, Lavina Nicole Minor Bradshaw (Michael) of Plano, TX, and Katrina Lyles of Texas.

She is survived by three siblings, Betty J. Matthews (Charles Sr.) of Natchez, MS, Evelyn Lee Woods (Steve) of Natchez, MS, and Carolyn M. Carthen (Rev. Cecil Sr.) of Elk Grove, CA; nieces, Inetta Worthy of Latonia, GA, Terri Carter of Baton Rouge, LA, Prophetess Nicholle Pearson of McDonough, GA, Ebonee’ P. Brunson of Snellville, GA, Marissa Carthen of Elk Grove, CA, Megan Hendricks-Murray (Jerele) of Morton, MS; nephews, Charles Matthews Jr. of Jackson, MS, Herman A. Stampley of Atlanta, GA, Raymond Williams Jr. of Houston, TX, Cecil Carthen Jr. of Oakland, CA, and Courtney James Carthen; mother-in-law, Louverna White Minor of Natchez, MS; three sisters-in-law, Cora Gordon (Ford) and Evangelist Penny Rachal of Natchez, MS, and Miriam, Esq. (Alvin) Chambliss Washington, WA; one brother-in-law, Dr. James Minor (First Lady Alisa) of Grayson, GA; two uncles-in-law, Samuel Minor (Odesia) and James B. Minor of Natchez, MS; one goddaughter, Evangelist Stacie Bell of Birmingham AL; a special and close friend like a sister, Minister Diana K. Wright, and many other great nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
