Ferriday man arrested for sexually assaulting juvenile under 13

FERRIDAY, La. — A 27-year-old Ferriday man was arrested on Monday after he allegedly sexually assaulted a victim under 13 years of age that day.

According to a Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Office press release, detectives received information of the child being sexually abused at a Ferriday residence on Monday.

An emergency forensic interview was conducted at the Alexandria Child Advocacy Center, along with a sexual assault exam.

Based on the evidence, authorities charged Donald Higginbotham III, 27, with two counts of first-degree rape of a victim under 13, indecent behavior with juveniles, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and illegal possession of a schedule I and schedule II controlled substances.

Higginbotham was booked into the CPSO jail.

“This investigation remains ongoing and no further information can be released at this time,” authorities said.
