FERRIDAY — Ferriday area schools will remained closed today, since the Ferriday water plant is still malfunctioning.

Ferriday schools and residents have a limited supply of water and have been asked to conserve it.

Ridgecrest School will also be closed since it shares transportation and cafeteria services with the Ferriday schools.

Superintendent Loretta Blankenstein said Monday she was hopeful school could resume Wednesday, but that the district would review the status day-by-day.

One of two clarifying filters at the water plant broke Saturday. Work is under way to repair the problem.
