NATCHEZ — The Centreville Academy Lady Tigers had their way with Wilkinson County Christian Academy throughout the first three quarters as they defeated the Lady Rams 36-22 Monday night to wrap up Day 1 of the 2011 ACCS Tip-Off Tournament.

It was indeed a treat-filled Happy Halloween for Centreville in its season-opener. WCCA ended up with the trick. The first quarter was a close one that ended with the Lady Tigers leading the Lady Rams 8-4. But any thought of this game going back and forth between these two teams came to an end when Centreville held WCCA scoreless in the second quarter and when into halftime with a 14-4 lead.

Led by Katie Berry, Tori Rouse and a suffocating defense, the Lady Tigers did not let up at all in the third quarter on both ends of the court. When the Lady Rams did get a shot off, they had trouble getting them to fall in the basket.

Berry led the Lady Tigers (1-0) with 11 points while Rouse finished with 10 points. B. Norwood had a game-high 12 points to lead the Lady Rams (0-1).

WCCA takes on Amite School Center today at 5:45 p.m. while Centreville does not play again until Saturday when it squares off with Silliman Institute at 11 a.m. as ACCS Tip-Off Tournament action continues.
