What a gorgeous weekend we just had!

Beautiful skies and sun filled Saturday, and Sunday stayed dry and warm.

The weather meant great success for several local events including the Franklin County Bicentennial Celebration, the Friends of St. Catherine Creek Wildlife Refuge’s Wild Things event and the first day of Spring Pilgrimage.

But the great news of March began before the sun even shone on the Miss-Lou.

Let’s review a few other great headlines from last week.

– Trinity Episcopal Day School student Jheri Dupreé Ogden has continually raked up the awards this year. Her latest title is that of National Merit Finalist. Congratulations Jheri; we know you’ll make our community proud.

– Students and teachers celebrated Dr. Seuss’ birthday last week with rhyming words, funny hats and a fun emphasis on reading. The creative minds at our schools truly make learning fun.

– Lifeskills of Natchez hosted an open house this week, showing off their facility, their work and even some of the great students who attend the day treatment program for the mentally ill and mentally impaired. We are blessed to have an organization like this in town, and we know the families of its students will agree.

We hope the sun sticks around for a while, but regardless, we know the great news will keep coming.
