FERRIDAY — A Ferriday man involved in a reported stand-off with Louisiana State Police on Interstate 10 caused the interstate to be shut down Sunday evening for approximately four hours somewhere near New Orleans, Concordia Parish spokesperson Capt. David Hedrick said.

Hedrick said state police contacted the CPSO in order to find a cell phone number for Vincent Hollins, 37, who was reportedly armed and alone when he parked in the middle of the interstate, initiating the standoff.

“They’re going through normal procedures of a stand-off, they don’t want to make a move too early,” Hedrick said, just before 10 p.m. Sunday.

Hollins later jumped into the water, where he was picked up by the local sheriff’s office boat, for questioning and a medical evaluation.

Hedrick said he received information that Hollins was going to see a family member in New Orleans and left his cell phone at his residence but took his pistol with him before he stopped on interstate.
