Nathaniel Smith Sr. of Ferriday and Lorraine Parker Smith of Clayton announce the engagement of their daughter, Tia Smith to Kendall Damond, son of Linda Damond and Quentin Moore Sr. of Lafayette, La. The groom is also the son of the late Nathaniel Alexander of Lafayette.

The bride-to-be is a graduate of Ferriday High School and a graduate of Alcorn State University in Lorman.

She is employed by St. Mary Parish School Board in Centerville, La.

She is the granddaughter of the late Albert Sr. and Elizabeth Parker of Clayton and the late Jake Sr. and Rosetta Smith of Winnsboro, La.

The groom-to-be is a graduate of Northside High School in Lafayette, a graduate of Grambling State University in Grambling, La., and the University of Louisiana in Monroe, La.

He is also employed by St. Mary Parish School Board in Centerville.

He is the grandson of Irene Damond and the late Obignac George Jr. and the late Joseph and Velma Alexander, all of Lafayette.

The wedding will be at 4 p.m., Saturday, June 30, 2012, at Harvest Baptist Church in Ferriday. A reception will follow at the Vidalia Convention Center. By invitation only.
