B&Bs celebrating veterans this weekend

Inns and bed & breakfasts throughout North America are honoring our active and retired military and vets for Veterans Day by offering a free room to those who have served in the military as a thank you for their service.

Veterans and one guest are welcome to enjoy a complimentary overnight stay on Sunday followed by breakfast the next day. Many B&Bs are offering welcoming gifts and often teaming with local businesses to offer everything from gifts, tours and more to further thank veterans for their service on Veterans Day.

Vets and their families will be welcomed in Natchez in many ways, including welcoming surprises at the B&Bs, the free Miss-Lou Patriotic Tribute at the Natchez Convention Center, from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. today through Sunday, a free movie on “The Natchez Story” at the Natchez Visitor Reception Center, a free thank you gift at the Old South Trading Post, free admission to the Wirt Adams’ Raid Into Natchez Civil War Reenactment at the Historic Jefferson College, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, complimentary historic home tours Nov. Sunday and Monday at Melrose, Natchez National Historic Park, the William Johnson House, Monmouth Historic Inn at 10 a.m., Dunleith Historic Inn at 11 a.m., the Norman-Gandy Historic Photograph Exhibit at First Presbyterian Church, complimentary wine and classical piano music performed by Joe Stone at the Stone House Antebellum Music Room at 6 p.m. Sunday (advanced reservations required) and Natchez Little Theatre’s presentation of “Arsenic & Old Lace” at 2 p.m. Sunday (admission required). It’s not too late for veterans to reserve their rooms. More inns and B&Bs are supporting this celebration every day. Simply visit www.bndbsforvets.org for a complete list of participating inns and B&Bs in the U.S., searchable by state.

Offers are updated daily and may be sorted by state/province, so check back often and scroll down for participating inns and B&Bs. B&B rooms are offered on a space available basis with far more deserving vets being available than B&B space allows.

Participating regional inns and B&Bs actively supporting the B&Bs for Vets celebration include proud members representing our newly formed Natchez B&B Association, B&B Association of Mississippi and the Professional Association of Innkeepers International.

Our Natchez B&B community has a strong representation of all currently participating Mississippi B&Bs, which so far includes the Devereaux Shields House, Bisland House, Brandon Hall Plantation, Monmouth Historic Inn, Hope Farm, Linden and Marcia’s Cottages. Any inns or B&Bs wishing to support our vets still have time to register. So vets can find you at www.BetterwaytoStay.com; click on the B&Bs for Vets logo to learn more about the requirements to participate.

Mississippi B&Bs wishing to participate may also contact me at 601-304-5378. Natchez B&Bs wishing to participate may contact Christine Tims, president of the Natchez B&B Association, at bislandhouse@yahoo.com or 601-304-5806.
