Prep basketball roundups: Wells leads way as ACCS boys get first win

PORT GIBSON — Lester Wells led four Adams County Christian School players for in double figures with 18 points as the Rebels defeated Chamberlain-Hunt Academy 88-52 Monday night for their first win of the season.

ACCS played its most impressive game on both ends of the court in quite some time, scoring at least 20 points in each quarter while holding Chamberlain-Hunt to no more than 16 points.

Also scoring in double figures for the Rebels were Tyler Stockstill and Brandon Walker with 14 points each and Trey Fleming with 10 points. Ryan Strong, Jordan Arnold and Shane Pollan contributed with eight points each.

ACCS (1-7) travels to Gallman to take on Copiah Academy Thursday night.

Oak Forest boys 54, WCCA 21

AMITE, La. — Trent Burns led Oak Forest Academy with a game-high 18 points and Tyler Hasson chipped in with 12 points as the Yellow Jackets defeated the Wilkinson County Christian Academy Rams Monday night.

The first quarter was a harbinger of things to come for WCCA, which has had very few practices since its football season recently ended. Oak Forest dominated the Rams on both ends of the court and by the time the quarter was over, the Yellow Jackets led 26-6 and they would not let up.

Dra Tolliver led the Rams with seven points and Austin Goodfellow added five points. WCCA (0-2) plays host to Chamberlain-Hunt Academy Thursday night in its MAIS District 6-A opener.
